Upgrading & Technical Information

What's New

Tax Provision

With v2016, we are offering clients the ability to test the upgrade and the release’s new functionality using their data. Clients have been asking for this functionality for years and we feel this program will be very well-received and highly utilized. We are calling this new program, “Tax Provision Test Drive” (Test Drive). We will pilot this program with a group of 20-30 clients after the market release on June 29, 2016. The pilot will start in July and go through August. After the pilot period, we will formalize this program and determine a rollout strategy for the broader market.

Clients will request the upgrade to v2016 through the current process by sending an email request to Tech Support. At that time, the client can ask to go through the Test Drive program. If the client agrees, Tech Support will clone the client’s existing instance and then upgrade the clone. The client will then have access to their upgraded copied instance for 30 days. At the end of the 30 day period, clients can either elect to move forward and upgrade their production instance or remain on their previous version. Clients will access the upgraded clone using their existing SSO credentials. Regardless of the client’s decision, the cloned instance will be deactivated and deleted after 30 days. For the pilot group, there is no charge for this program; however some legal paperwork needs to be signed by participating clients. Throughout the pilot, we will evaluate feedback from the customers and internal teams to be incorporated into the formal program.

The Client Success Management (CSM) team will check-in with the client around the 15 day mark to gather feedback and remind them of the 30 day deadline. If clients wish to continue the test drive beyond 30 days or in perpetuity, they can negotiate terms and costs of an additional instance of Tax Provision with their Account Team, similar to what is available today.

The environment for the Test Drive is limited in both space and available integrations. As clients go into this test environment, Development will monitor the available space and ensure we can accommodate as many clients as possible; however, it is important to understand that scheduling clients into and out of the program is required. The environment has limited integrations with only Workpapers being available at first. This means that no other product integration is available including Global Access and Income Tax. The Test Drive instance will include the upgrade of all Active Workpapers to Workpapers.  If the client had not previously licensed Active Workpapers but wants to test Workpapers in v2016, they can request that it turned on in the Test Drive instance.

What's New

Workpapers

As part of the v2016 upgrade process, Active Workpapers in ONESOURCE Tax Provision will be moved to the new ONESOURCE Workpapers application. With this transition, no Active Workpaper functionality will be lost. When the upgrade is complete, you can find zip files with your active workpapers in Administration > Global Attachments.

View a new mapsheet, #ONESOURCEMAP#, with the new formula driven mapping and line by line reference to the old mappings for reference.

You will find the old mapsheet, #MAP# in your converted workpapers. However, the #MAP# will not exist on any workpapers created after the transition.

Access ONESOURCE Workpapers if you have a valid Active Workpaper license.

Data Import Add-in

The Data Import Add-in will be combined with the new Workpaper add-in for those that decide to license the ONESOURCE Workpapers. Note that the Data Import Add-in functionality has not changed. However, the icons in the Data Import ribbon were updated to provide a consistent look and feel with the new Workpaper Add-in.
