In Administration > Manage States > States you can create a user-defined state or jurisdiction. You can add a State Code, Name, Type, Beginning Deferred Rate, Ending Deferred Rate, and State Rate.

To import a new state or jurisdiction, complete the appropriate fields on the #CS# States sheet in the Import Categories template.

Code and Name

The State code is user-defined and can be any combination of alpha and numeric characters, including spaces, up to 60 characters.

You can edit the State/Jurisdiction name.

The State Name appears in the My Datasets page once you add it to the system.

You can delete custom state or jurisdiction codes/names that have no data entered for them in any dataset.

The State Code and Name appear in the header of reports.

You can assign the State Type to group states together, designate Mass State rates, enter the Beginning Deferred and Ending Deferred Rates and enter the State Tax Rates.

Note: You cannot modify the system's pre-populated states.
